MAGI Review - by Valli S.
There is a whole tutorial you should play if you want to become proficient in playing Magi. It takes you through a mock battle. When I first saw the title of the game Magi, I thought it had something to do with the three kings, also called Magi, who went to adore the baby Jesus. Little did I know this was all about wizards and battles!
There is a spooky type of music at the beginning of the game. It is mystifying, and you feel like you are traveling in the heart of the jungle. The music changes to sound like you are going into battle. There are various sounds when spells are cast and arrows are shot there is also a voice that says "Victory" and "Defeat". I gave this category a rating of 7.
SOUND & MUSIC: 7
Well, the tutorial did me absolutely no good in playing this game. I did not understand it at all. I lost all the games that I played. I thought that by clicking the button to shoot the arrows I would have a better chance of winning - but no dice! As I kept playing the game, my persistence began to pay off. I shot enough arrows and used the blue channel of energy that was used to free protective spells and I actually won two games. As far as this category goes, I gave it a rating of 6.
GAMEPLAY: 6
In this game there are wizards, a devil, a bright shining ball and various colors of rays shooting out from the wizards. They are bright colors of blue, red and green. This category got a rating of 6 from me.
GRAPHICS: 6
I became very frustrated with this game mainly because I did not know what in the world I was doing. I even played the tutorial but I can’t say that was very much help. Well, how do you like that! After having six losses in a row I finally won a game. That’s still did not change my opinion about Magi. It was just not my type of game. I only gave this category and a rating of 5 because my frustration level was at its maximum limit.
FUN: 5
Final conclusion:
I would say that if someone likes the magical world of wizards, battles and spells then this is the right game for them. I think this game is suitable for older children and adults. The younger set up will not understand it.
