Archipelago
Archipelago Game Review

Archipelago Review - by Valli S.

As the name Archipelago suggests, this game seems to be about a chain of islands. My job is to collect the invading cubes to reunite the islands and save Archipelago. I had to click two or more of the same colored cubes which seemed very easy. It must be a trick! When I got to level 3 I had double the amount of cubes to click on.

The music seemed to be an easy type of listening music. There are sounds when you click on the blocks as well as when a level is completed. When the tower is getting too high, an alarm sounds to warn you. I gave this category a rating of 8.
SOUND & MUSIC: 8

I had to pass three levels clicking on two or more of the same colored cubes. That unlocked the arcade mode. You can’t let the cubes reached the top of the platform or you have to start over. I thought there was a catch to this game! I had to try three times before I could pass the fourth level. An extra colored cube was added which made the gameplay much harder.

It took me about 20 tries to get past level 6. You can also have the cubes change their rotation. It only took me one try to get past level 7. My confidence was restored! Now in level 8 the tower of cubes will not rotate. It only took me two tries to pass that level. Starting with level 10 you have two sets of rotating cubes to get rid of. A panic button was added if your tower of cubes was getting too tall. I gave this category a rating of 9.
GAMEPLAY: 9

As the game opens, you see an island with an active volcano. The colors are all very bright and really stood out in the blue sea. There were also rolling waves as the sea went by. You could see oozing molten lava that looked just like the real thing! Puffs of steam were also rising from the volcano. I gave this category a rating of 9 as well.

Archipelago becomes very addictive. I liked clearing away as many different colored cubes as I could in the least amount of time. This game tested your skill as well is your reaction time. I gave this category a rating of 10.
FUN: 10

Final conclusion:
If you like a game of speed and skill then you are likely to enjoy Archipelago. I would doubt that this game would be suitable for very young children, but by the time they are in the third or fourth grades I think they would be ready for such a game as this. I think adults would like this game as well.
