Happy Hour!
Happy Hour! Game Review

Happy Hour! Review - by Valli S.

It seemed that this game was simple enough. When a customer came into John Doe’s Bar, I had to serve that person a different colored drink. Most of the time it was only one color, but sometimes it could be a combination of colors and you had to make sure to put them in the proper order or the customer got mad and stormed out! This was my very first impression of playing Happy Hour!

The music in this game was upbeat, and usually there was vocalization in the background. It seemed like the type of music that would fit in with a happy hour. There were the sounds of rattling glasses, coins jingling and a cash register. I gave this category a score of 7 out of 10 points.
SOUND & MUSIC: 7

This game got harder as you progress through the levels which is what I was afraid of! I not only had to serve one customer at a time, but now it jumped to two. I also had to try to serve peanuts before serving them drinks because it raises a customer’s patience and makes them wait for their drink longer. Pretty soon I was serving three customers at a time! You may buy things to appease your customers such as a dart game and a pinball machine if you have enough money in your account. When feeling overwhelmed, I could put a CD on for all to hear and it will raise everyone’s patience at once. However, when I finally did get the CD, I forgot how to play it! I gave this category a rating of 8 because it really tested my memory!
GAMEPLAY: 8

The graphics were bright and cheerful and went along with the mood of the game. The dart board and pinball game were very realistic looking. The people walked in and out of the bar in 3-D fashion. I also gave this category a rating of 8.

Whew! I was exhausted after I played this game! It was difficult to keep up with all of the different customers I had to serve at once. I tried to give my customers peanuts as often as I could so they would not get mad at me and storm out! I then learned that playing music for my customers would help restore their patience. I was supposed to ring the Happy Hour Bell so that all of my customers would come and drink almost anything. I did not really know how that worked, but when the arrow was completely filled then the bell rang. The only problem with that was that when the bell rang I only had one customer sitting at the bar instead of the three that I should have had so that I could have served them any colored drink. I gave this category a rating of 9 because it kept me engrossed throughout the game.
FUN: 9

Final conclusion:
I would recommend this game for older children as well as adults. If you ever have a mind to be a waiter or a waitress, then I would certainly try this game. Also if you are speedy at playing games then you will definitely want to try Happy Hour!
