Bizzy's Spelling Bee
Bizzy's Spelling Bee Game Review

Bizzy's Spelling Bee Review - by Valli S.

As the title of this game suggests, this is a spelling game. At first impression, this game seems simple enough. There are letters in a large honeycomb, and you have to spell as many words as you can. You have a progress line at the bottom of the screen so you can see how you are doing. When the honey line is completely filled, then you have mastered that level.

There is a soothing type of elevator music playing in the background. I thought that there could be a little bit more of a variation of the music in some spots in the game. There are sounds whenever words are made, and sounds of buzzing bees going to the hive. I also thought this game could be spruced up with a few more sound effects. As far as this category goes, I gave it a rating of 5.
SOUND & MUSIC: 5

There are three modes all together to this game – classic, time trial and free play. Hints are given throughout the game so you can increase your score. When a word is made, the bees take it to the beehive. The number of points you get for each word appears on the honeycomb after a word is made. There are some bright blue letters in the honeycomb and if you use them in a word you get more points. There is a scoreboard to the right of the game where you can keep track of your total points. I gave this category a rating of 7.
GAMEPLAY: 7

I thought the colors were rather drab for Bizzy's Spelling Bee. The beehive was a nondescript color. The balloons even appear to have drab colors. The honey meter followed along with the rest of the graphics and was a drab green. I definitely thought this game could be made more appealing by adding a few more splashes of color to the mix. I only gave this category a rating of 5.

To me, playing this game was like a breath of fresh air. Again, it was one that required you to use your thought processes. I like it when my brain is actually utilized in playing a game. As a former English teacher, I loved to teach the subject of spelling. In this game, I enjoyed seeing the level of difficulty of words I could spell because the point value would increase. I thought this category deserved a rating of 8.
FUN: 8

Final conclusion:
I would definitely recommend this game for school age children. As soon as a child is able to spell simple words, then they should be able to try this game.
