Agatha Christie - Death on the Nile
Agatha Christie - Death on the Nile Game Review

Agatha Christie – Death on the Nile Review - by Valli S.

This is a mystery game plain and simple. You have 25 minutes to complete each investigation, and you are also able to play bonus rounds. There are 12 investigations all together. Five hints are given to you in each investigation. At first glance, this game seems simple enough, but once you get into it, it is not as easy as it seems.

The music is composed of orchestra music and at times I could hear the sound of an oboe in the background. It is almost an eerie and mysterious kind of music. There were sounds of doors closing and a gunshot. I felt that this game would have been enhanced if there would have been more sound effects. I therefore gave this category a rating of 5.
SOUND & MUSIC: 5

This is a game where you are taken to various rooms, and you must find the hidden objects. If you randomly clicked too many times, 30 seconds were then deducted from your time. Some of the items that are to be found are quite evident, but others take a bit more searching. After some levels are complete, you have to match up square pieces to form a puzzle. The more you question the characters, the closer you are to solving the mystery. I gave this category a rating of 7.
GAMEPLAY: 7

At the very beginning of Agatha Christie – Death on the Nile, you are made to feel like you are in one of those "old timey" black and white movies. I thought that was very realistic looking! There were various rooms that you were able to enter, and they all seemed to be in keeping with the turn of the 20th century décor. In one room there was a cup of coffee with steam rising from it. Because the graphics were so realistic looking I gave this category a rating of 8.

I am not sure who liked playing this game more – my teenage daughter or me! I like to search for the various items in the different rooms. I also enjoyed talking to the various characters about the murder. I did find that I needed to get help with hints in finding the various items in the rooms. I also found myself randomly clicking too many times and thus getting deductions of time from my game. At times I found myself getting discouraged and frustrated because I could not find the hidden items. I, therefore, gave this category a rating of 6.
FUN: 6

Final conclusion:
Remember the Highlights magazine where you had to find the hidden objects in the picture? They usually have this magazine in the doctor’s or the dentist’s office, and my children used to love to pick up a magazine and find the hidden pictures. If this is something that you liked doing, then you may find this game to be well suited for you.
