Snaky Jake Review - by Valli S.
It is recommended you began playing by starting with Jake's story. Instructions will guide you along the way. There is a short poem that tells you all about Jake. You control Jake with the mouse. Point at the LIT platform where you want Jake to move to and click the left mouse.
Music to Snaky Jake is rather upbeat. One can notice a lot of brass instruments playing in the background. There are sounds when Jake loses a life as well as when the chain of fruit catches fire. I thought this game could have been made more interesting with the addition of more sound effects. Therefore, I gave this category a rating of 6.
SOUND & MUSIC: 6
Jake jumps from platform to platform collecting golden coins. You want to try to avoid being hit by the snails as they can harm Jake. Spiders can also do harm to Jake. Do not let the chain of fruit get too long. If it reaches the edge of the screen, it catches fire and Jake may lose his shield. Snakes in the upper right-hand corner of the screen tell you how many lives you have. When you hit a clock everything slows down for a few seconds. Jake collects fruit by landing on it. The fruit forms to change that trails behind him. Collect three identical fruits in a row to make all of the fruit of that type disappear from the chain. Moving platforms can be selected in the same way as stationary platforms as long as they are in range. A little bubble with a snake in it gets you an extra life. As you progress farther into the game, there are six magic amulets to collect. The first can be found on level 7. When an enemy is in range, it will flash. Click the left mouse button and Jake will jump on its back to stun it. If more than one type of fruit disappears from the chain it is called a COMBO. This makes Jake grow bigger, jump higher and resist damage from the enemy.

Some of the graphics that can be found in Snaky Jake are as follows: wooden platforms, vines, swinging vines, golden coins, large flowering plants, snails, spiders, and pieces of fruit such as apples, pears, plums, bananas, grapes, and peaches. Since this category greatly enhanced the computer game, I gave it a rating of 9.

This computer game, Snaky Jake, reminded me of the days when I played Super Mario. I had to help Jake avoid certain obstacles such as snails and spiders that could harm him and make him lose a life. The game is really like two games in one as I had to match at least three pieces of fruit in a row in order to keep the fruit chain from getting longer. This computer game kept me thoroughly motivated and kept my interest piqued so I gave this category a rating of 9.

Final conclusion:
If you are looking for a computer game that hearkens back to the nostalgic era of Super Mario, then I would certainly advise obtaining this game. I would recommend this game for all ages as I am sure there is something to be found for everyone who plays this game.
