Arcane Islands
Arcane Islands Game Review

Arcane Islands Review - by Valli S.

There are three modes to this game: the story mode, the Bingo mode and the fill up mode. The story mode is consistent with its name in that it is told in typical storybook fashion. You can turn the page of the book by dragging your mouse across it. The fill up mode is where you compete against time, take cards as fast as you can and fill the field counter to reach higher levels. If you like spinning fast games, the Bingo Mode is your choice! Race against the computer on increasingly difficult and thrilling levels! Find the matching card faster than the machine. Select the first island which is the island of Kinatobus to begin your journey. You have to take all the cards from all of the decks on the board to complete the level. Adjust the fields of the grid to make a perfect match with one of the cards on the table. Power can be increased by taking a card or with some special bonuses.

The music was nothing spectacular, and it really did not make much of an impression on me. In fact, I was so engrossed with making matches I hardly noticed the music. There were sounds when you turned the cards over and when a level was completed but that is about all. On a scale of 1-10 I rated this category a 5.
SOUND & MUSIC: 5

There are two squares of four cards each, and you have to match them up with a square that has nine cards in it. When all four cards match some of the cards with the square with nine cards, then slide the four cards on top of the other matching cards. As you proceed to different islands, there are more cards to match up. In other words, the difficulty level increases as you proceed farther up the levels. On a scale of 1-10, I rated this category an 8.
GAMEPLAY: 8

There are cards with different pictures on them, a power bar, a storybook with pages that turn, and stars that appear when matches are made. On a scale of 1-10, I rated this category a 6.

Personally I liked this game because I like matching games. You have to keep your wits about you because you have to complete making matches before your power bar runs out. You should try to make matches with as few “moves” as possible as this will help to conserve your power. On a scale of 1-10, I gave this category a rating of 8.
FUN: 8

Final conclusion:
I would recommend this game for people who like to play matching games. I also believe that this game will help to reinforce the cognitive abilities in children as well as adults.
