Real Estate Empire
Real Estate Empire Game Review

Real E$tate Empire Review - by Valli S.

This game teaches you about buying, fixing and selling real estate. In the demo version, you can only play the handyman profession. You have opponents in this game who are a general contractor, MBA, realtor, and an interior decorator. Viewing of available houses is accomplished by clicking on the homes that have a FOR SALE sign above them. You may adjust the offer on the house by adjusting the arrow keys. You can fix up the house by clicking on the appropriate job. Some houses may not be within your price range and, therefore, you may not be able to afford the mortgage payments.

In this game there is relaxing elevator music in the background. The only sounds that can be heard in this game were the clicking sounds when you point and click your mouse and sounds like a truck that is revving up its motor. Since Real Estate Empire was somewhat lacking in the sound and music department, I only gave it a rating of five.
SOUND & MUSIC: 5

The dollar amount under the house picture is your current offer. The SUBMIT button below the house is used to submit your offer amount to the sellers. Now that you have a house, you look to see whether there are any investments you can make in order to increase your profit. Look in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to see what condition your house is in. Now it is time to put your house up for sale. Depending upon market conditions and your current cash state, you will decide to use a realtor on a percentage basis, to pay for a “for sale by owner” service, or simply put a sign on your lawn and an ad in the newspaper. Since this game was quite complicated to play, I only gave it a rating of six.

The graphics in this game were as follows: houses, for sale signs, and pictures of people. Real Estate Empire was quite lacking in the graphics department so I only gave it a rating of five.

After finishing the tutorial for the game, we have a slight problem in trying to play the regular trial version. We tried to click on a house to buy, but it would not let us do so. We had to restart the game in order to get back to our desired position. It is not easy trying to fix up the house, sell it, and make a tidy profit. My 14-year-old daughter did not like this game at all because she thought it was too hard. After pondering what I should rate this game, I felt that it only deserved a six.
FUN: 6

Final conclusion:
If you like dealing with the in’s and out’s of the real estate business, then this game would be a wise investment. This game is definitely geared more towards the adult population.
