Aveyond Review - by Valli S.
The Village in this game is called Clearwater. In order to view your quest press ESC and select Journal. In order to talk to villagers and open doors you must press the space bar. To save your game press ESC. In this game you must first go to speak with your father who is in the house near the bridge. The first quest is to find the herbalist. The second quest is to find five Marionbell flowers. You can pick up one of these flowers with the space bar.
The music in Aveyond sounded like a medieval type of music. There was also a mysterious type of music with an oboe playing in the background. My daughter suggested that some of the music sounded like theme park music. There were no real sounds throughout this game but music was constantly playing. Therefore, this game only received a rating of 5.
SOUND & MUSIC: 5
Playing this game was hit and miss at its best. I could not find out what the basic objective of the game was. In one quest, you had to find five Marionbell flowers. The game did give a hint as to where to find the last flower. You had to go through the cave in order to reach the final flower. When you sleep, all of your health is restored. At one point in the game you receive a priestess ring and are told to wear it at all times. Rhen is captured and made a slave and taken to the Eastern Isles. She has various chores to perform and one of them is to kill spiders. After the spiders are killed, you should look for hidden treasures in their dead bodies. I gave Aveyond an overall rating of 6.
GAMEPLAY: 6
This game was rather rich in graphics. There were little people, furnished houses you can enter, bridges, water and waterfalls, trees, ladders, mountains in the background, wells, stone walls, and fences. I gave Aveyond's graphics an overall rating of 7.
GRAPHICS: 7
I cannot say that I was too enthused about this game. The instructions were haphazard at best. It took too long going from house to house to try to find out which quest needed to be done. Since there was a lot of dialogue in this game, I did find it interesting speaking to the various people along the way. However, as far as rating the fun factor of this game, I could only muster up a rating of 5.
FUN: 5
Final conclusion:
Since there was not too much action to this game, I found that I could not keep my interest level at an optimal level. However, this is just my opinion. In order to judge for yourself whether you like the game or not I would suggest that you download the trial version and find out for yourself.
