Lego Chick Boutique Review - by Valli S.
In this game, you are able to choose the person you want to be by clicking on all of the facial features. You also get to choose between ten cities worldwide in which to set up your shop or mall cart. It is you job to match up three or more pieces in order to make an item to sell. You have a time limit of 2 minutes and 20 seconds in which to make matches. The more matches you make, the more points you gain. Each day is equal to a different level and you get to spend a total of fourteen days in each city.
The music is very easy to listen to. However, it is the same thing played over and over again. It seems to get monotonous after a time. It also seemed to have a hypnotic effect on me which tended to make me feel sleepy. There are not many sounds to Lego Chick Boutique. There is the sound of a bubble popping and a cash register drawer opening. There is also the sound of a ticking clock when your time is about to run out. There were a few other indescribable sound effects. I think more could have been done in this department.
SOUND & MUSIC: 5
It is challenging to try to make matches within the allotted time. Naturally, with just about any game, you try to score as many points as you can, and with Lego Chick Boutique this is no exception. As I progressed through the levels, I was allowed to choose another city to set up shop in. As I was playing the game, many of the comments did not stay up long enough for me to read. Thus, valuable information about the game was lost.
GAMEPLAY: 7
The graphics in the game are really nothing to write home about. The shapes to be matched are of a suitable size. They consist of stars, circles, butterflies, squares, flowers and shells. However, the graphics on the board to the right of the shapes are way too small. The people are not much bigger than large ants running around! The gift cart is tiny and the items in the cart are barely noticeable. The graphics do not stand out; therefore, they have no 3D appearance.
GRAPHICS: 4
It was fun to try to match the shapes although when I could not find a match I tended to become exasperated. The game got to be rather long and drawn out and made me want to stop playing. After a time, my interest in Lego Chick Boutique was no longer held captive.
FUN: 5
Final conclusion:
As a computer game to try as a free download on the Internet, I would certainly recommend it. It may even be fun for younger children who are just learning their shapes to try their hand at making matches. However, as far as buying this game goes, I do not think I would recommend it.
