Westward Review - by Urmii B.
In Westward you control the fortunes of three vastly different towns as they rise from the dust of the frontier and grow into thriving boomtowns. Brave the dangers of the West and explore uncharted plans, dense forests and rocky canyons as you guide your settlers to safety and success. The gamer guides the fortunes of a town from its roughest roots until it becomes a flourishing jewel of a boomtown.
The concept is exceptional. The game has stunningly original graphics, hilarious dialogues and endless possibilities.
During the game, we can have the pleasure of listening to the conversation between the Sheriff and his deputies. However, the tutorial teacher is not friendly enough. She gives instructions through comic book style. So, the gamer has to read those instructions on the screen. Sometimes we also can hear the sound of the horse.
The game also has rough Western music as its background score. Nothing can be more perfect than this. The music is excellent in the game. The composer has given a great effort on its music.
SOUND & MUSIC: 7
The scenery is typically western. It has the “rough and tough” atmosphere of the Wild West. The graphics are superb. The screen is well designed. It has a very rough atmosphere, which the concept of the game demands.
GRAPHICS: 7
Westward is an amazing, challenging fun Western themed strategy game. What we have to do is to help the Sheriff to fight against the bandits and make the town better and better in thecourse of time.
I have found some similarities with Virtual villagers and this game. It has all the fun of creating a community in the same way.
GAMEPLAY: 7
A Sheriff, his deputies, horses; cowboys, rough atmosphere, fear of bandits etc. are mandatory in western films. Westward also brings the same pleasure.
There is a warning my fellow gamers- you might find yourself slipping into character after too much game play. One gets in for the challenge and fun and then loves it for the clever and witty dialogues. A gamer can never be bored after completing the game as the game never allows him to leave. There are always other and different kinds of problems to face.
FUN: 8
