Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst
Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst Game Review

Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst Review - by Urmii B.

Whenever we see a thriller the camera never follows the detective at the time of searching the clues. What we all see is that they are interviewing or lost in their world of thinking in the smoky atmosphere of their own smoking nature and at the end of the program we get a long lecture on how he has solved the mystery. This process never satisfied the hunger of a person who wants to be a detective in his own right. The person never has the chance to be trained by the detective. But Mystery Case Files has brought an excellent solution to this problem. It gives everyone who plays the game the chance to be a detective. The game is about searching for some items in different places of an isolated house. But you don't have all the time to accomplish this. There are time limits within which you have to complete the process. This game gives you the challenge by telling what items to look for and gives a specific time limit in which to find them. The game is premised on the concept that the player is a skilled detective. The gamer detective has to find the items with all of his intelligence and wit. Some of the items are hidden in a very clever way. Items may be lying around on shelves, or they may be part of the wallpaper or a picture hanging on the wall.

The entire success of this game is enveloped in the music. It completely makes you forget that you are playing a game. It will give you the excitement of watching a horror film or a thriller by a brilliant filmmaker. The music is not at all distracting or annoying. There is the sound of thunder, the creaking of an old door, the sound of a crow - all of these make the atmosphere more mysterious and mount the excitement while the gamer concentrates more on his searching process.
SOUND & MUSIC: 8

There is very little space for elaborate graphics in this game. What every screen has to show is just a lot of items within which the items we are searching for are hidden. This type of game does not demand excellent efforts on its graphics. So what we all have on the name of graphics is perfect for the format and concept of the game.

The game kept me totally absorbed. I could not do anything until I completed the game once, and that took some time. Before understanding the game I started clicking everywhere on the screen. This was foolish as there is a punishment for clicking on too many items or on wrong items. Time penalties will be charged, and the time limit will be shortened. There are three helpful hints for assistance. These will highlight the areas on screen where one of the items is hiding. But my fellow gamers will learn from me, as I was too click-happy that I ran out of hints before entering the house and ended up for the rest of the game with no clues. So beware of using your mouse frequently...

Mysterious Case Files is a very satisfying and relaxing experience. It is a very casual game for all ages. The game has different levels of fun for different ages. The most exciting part is when you don't have enough time left and you have to search for a lot of items. Otherwise you have to start all over again. At this stage you will became a real good sleuth and will try your best. A new beginning also gives an additional pleasure if you possess the memory of your previous experience. Unfortunately this beautiful and brilliant game has a life of only few hours. After solving all of the puzzles and finding all of the items in every places of the house the game has to end. As the title of the game suggests, the mystery has to be solved at a definite level. There is very little reason to pick it up again. There is not even a real scoring system to this game. But in any case, the money has been spent.
